Jodi Rave is completing a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, including environmental studies, law and creative writing at the University of Montana. She has a B.S. degree in journalism from the University of Montana. Her graduate studies include a professional paper on hydraulic fracturing and the effects on the air and groundwater on the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota where the tribal community has been thrust headfirst into an oil boom.  Jodi, who worked as a daily newspaper journalist for 15 years, is writing a book about the U.S. Interior Department’s management of American Indian land from the perspective of an indigenous woman.

Jodi is an enrolled citizen of the Three Affiliated Tribes. Her father is from the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. She has been given an Indian name from each tribe.  Her Hidatsa name is White Swan. Her Lakota name is Tells People the News. She lives in Missoula with her husband, Frankie Lee, and three-year-old daughter, Tierra.
